A Woman’s Way
Is there a man who can explain
A woman’s way to me?
My best attempts have been in vain,
As far as I can see.
Her charming smile, her twinkling eye:
And what might these portray?
Is there some rule I can apply,
To tell a woman’s way?
Her stately walk, her nonsense talk,
And things she doesn’t say;
What key can help me to unlock,
The mysteries of her way?
Does “Yes” mean “Yes”, and “No” mean “No”?
I find it hard to tell;
And is it time to stay or go?
Is all between us well?
The heavens I can understand;
The earth is easier still!
But woman ways elude this man,
Try whatever he will.
I guess, in time, this secret will,
To every man be known;
But confused I shall be until,
Enlightenment has dawned.
