The Heart At Sunset
A setting sun will often bring,
Fond memories to me,
Of times when you and I would sing,
Our songs beneath this tree.
We were great friends, and more than that,
We loved each other too;
And sunlight shone upon my path,
When I spent time with you.
Then time passed by, and we grew old,
Unlike this sturdy tree;
Yet in my mind those scenes unfold,
As though you’re still with me.
My life is now a setting sun,
That once touched heights of sky;
For when you died I lost the one,
Who was my constant joy.
