The World And I
The world and I are different things
We go a different way;
I choose a different song to sing,
And different words to say.
O let the world run at its pace,
And let me run at mine;
Since we are different points in space,
Why should we match in time?
And should it choose to travel fast,
While I be plodding slow;
Since I don't mind if it go past,
Why should it whine I'm slow?
What if I race the quickest stars,
While it stay soundly sleep?
Let no one vote me behind bars;
My time's for me to keep.
My path, to run or walk, I choose;
Your path is left to you;
The goal is not to win or lose,
But do what's right for you.
