To The Evening
O Evening, you are fair and new,
And full of so much song;
I'm glad to find a friend in you,
But will you be here long?
You bring to mind such wondrous things,
That make me like you so;
O Evening, are you here to stay,
Or will you also go?
The Morn, my friend, was just like you,
So filled with joyful song;
But just as we were doing swell,
I learnt that she had gone!
O Evening, please, I bid you stay,
As long as you would want;
For yes, I know that darkness comes,
As soon as you have gone.
